Ole Miss pitcher Cade Townsend was named to the College Baseball Foundation’s 2026 Pitcher of the Year Watch List, according to a March 11 announcement. Townsend is one of 141 Division I pitchers recognized and one of 17 from the Southeastern Conference.
The recognition highlights Townsend’s strong performance this season. He currently holds a 0.48 earned run average after four starts, which is the second-lowest among all qualified SEC pitchers. Townsend has allowed just one earned run so far, which came on a sacrifice fly in his first start against Nevada. Since then, he has thrown 17 consecutive scoreless innings.
Townsend has struck out at least seven batters in each of his four starts and set a new career high with nine strikeouts during a combined shutout against Ohio State. Heading into this weekend, he ranks fourth in strikeouts per nine innings (15.43) and eighth in walks plus hits per inning pitched (0.75) within the conference.
Townsend is scheduled to make his next start on Saturday against No. 2 Texas.
