Cotie McMahon of the No. 18/17 Ole Miss women’s basketball team has been named Co-SEC Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday.

This recognition is McMahon’s first weekly honor in the SEC. Previously, she received six Big Ten Freshman of the Week awards and was named Big Ten Player of the Week on January 22, 2024.

During the week, McMahon helped Ole Miss secure victories over No. 5 Oklahoma and in-state rival Mississippi State. She was also recently named to the Wooden Award Women’s Midseason Top 25 Watch List.

Against Oklahoma, McMahon led her team with 22 points, four assists, and four rebounds. In the final minute of play in Norman, she drove to the basket, drew a foul, and made a free throw that gave Ole Miss a two-possession lead. This performance contributed to the Rebels’ 74-69 win—marking their 14th top-five victory in program history.

In the matchup against Mississippi State, McMahon scored 21 points. This marked her tenth game this season with at least 20 points—the most by any Rebel since the 2021-22 season. With these two double-digit scoring games, McMahon has now reached at least ten points in each of Ole Miss’ first nineteen games this season. This achievement ties her with former Rebel Bianca Thomas for consecutive double-digit scoring games to start a season; Thomas set her streak during the 2009-10 campaign.

McMahon’s total of 43 points over these two games ranks third among SEC players for the week and puts her just one field goal behind the weekly leader. She also stands third in both total field goals (16) and three-point percentage (44.4%) within the conference for this period.

Alabama’s Jessica Timmons shares Co-SEC Player of the Week honors with McMahon, while Tennessee’s Mia Pauldo was named SEC Freshman of the Week.
