For the third time in the past month, Cotie McMahon has been named SEC Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the conference on Tuesday.
McMahon now has three Player of the Week honors this season, tying her for the most in the Southeastern Conference and making her the only player to earn three during conference play. She is also the first Ole Miss player to achieve this many weekly awards in a single year since Armintie Price, who won four times during the 2006-07 season.
This recognition marks McMahon’s 10th weekly conference honor and her third overall in the SEC. Previously, she was a six-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week and was named Big Ten Player of the Week on January 22, 2024. This season, she also received SEC Player of the Week honors on January 13 and January 27.
In recent games played at a neutral site in Birmingham, McMahon led Ole Miss to victories over No. 5 Vanderbilt and Auburn. Against Vanderbilt, she scored 27 points with three assists and four rebounds, including going nearly perfect from the free throw line with 11 points. With these wins, McMahon has helped lead Ole Miss to two victories against top five opponents this season—the other being against No. 5 Oklahoma earlier in January—a feat that has only happened twice before in program history, last occurring during the 1995-96 season.
Against Auburn, McMahon again led her team’s scoring with 20 points. Over this season so far, she has recorded more than 20 points in thirteen games—tying for eleventh-most such games by any Rebel player in a single season—and is one game away from matching her personal best for single-season performances set at her previous school. In addition to scoring against Auburn, she added seven rebounds and two steals.
With contributions from McMahon, Ole Miss is off to its best start under head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin at a record of 19-4.
Mississippi State’s Madison Francis was named SEC Freshman of the Week alongside McMahon’s recognition.
