Ole Miss women’s basketball player Cotie McMahon has been named National Player of the Week by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), according to an announcement made Tuesday. This is McMahon’s third time receiving the USBWA National Weekly Starting Five honor, having previously earned it twice at her former school. Earlier in the day, she was also recognized as Co-SEC Player of the Week.

For games played through Sunday, January 25, McMahon was one of five Ann Meyers Drysdale national women’s honorees alongside Zoe Brooks from NC State, Kennedie Shuler from Oregon State, Tristen Taylor from Temple, and Riley Weiss from Columbia. Oklahoma guard Aaliyah Chavez was named Tamika Catchings freshman of the week, while Iowa received team of the week honors.

McMahon delivered a standout performance against Missouri with a 33-point double-double that matched her career high for points. She became the first Ole Miss player to score 30 points this season and the first since Madison Scott to reach that mark. Her total was also the highest by a Rebel since Marquesha Davis scored 33 against Florida on March 8, 2024.

She equaled her season best with 12 rebounds and added five assists and two blocks during the game. Most of her scoring came in the second half where she recorded 24 points and shot nine-for-13 from the field over quarters three and four. Last week, she led all SEC players in both points per game and rebounds per game while ranking fourth nationally in scoring.

This season, McMahon has surpassed 20 points in eleven games and reached double-digit scoring in all but one of Ole Miss’s twenty-one contests so far. Each time she has posted a double-double this year, another teammate has achieved one as well.

Looking ahead, Ole Miss will face Vanderbilt at Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama. The matchup is scheduled for tipoff at 2 p.m. CT and will be streamed on SECN+.

Single-game tickets for next season are available for purchase online or through OleMissTix.com.
