The Southeastern Conference announced on May 18 that five Ole Miss Rebels baseball players have been selected to the 2026 All-SEC Baseball Team, with athletes earning spots across three of the four different teams.

This recognition highlights individual achievements among the Rebels and marks notable milestones for several players. Walker Hooks was named to the First Team as one of three relief pitchers. Will Furniss, Cade Townsend, and Judd Utermark were all named to the Second Team at their respective positions. Hunter Elliott was selected for the All-Defensive Team as a pitcher.

Hooks is noted as the first Rebel to earn First Team All-SEC honors since Jacob Gonzalez in 2022 and is also recognized as the first pitcher since Doug Nikhazy in 2021 and first relief pitcher since Parker Caracci in 2018 to receive such honors. He becomes the first relief pitcher in program history to earn First Team status since differentiation between starting and relief pitchers began in 2004. Hooks currently holds a record of 3-1 with an ERA of 2.12, seven saves over 22 appearances, striking out 53 batters while allowing only nine walks over nearly forty-seven innings pitched.

Furniss leads Ole Miss in batting average (.322) and on-base percentage (.439), contributing significantly during conference play with a .315 average, six home runs, and twenty-six runs batted in (RBI). His fifty-two total RBI rank thirteenth-most within the SEC. Utermark stands out by leading his team in slugging percentage (.649), runs scored (66), hits (67), home runs (20), and total bases (137). He recently set new program records by becoming Ole Miss’s career leader in home runs with forty-nine and being the first Rebel player ever to post multiple seasons with twenty or more home runs.

Townsend has been effective on the mound this season, leading all Rebel starters with a 3.81 ERA while holding opponents to a .218 batting average; he also ranks high within SEC pitching statistics for strikeouts per nine innings, WHIP, and strikeout-to-walk ratio. In April he became Ole Miss’s first pitcher since 2021 to achieve three consecutive quality starts against Florida, LSU, and Tennessee.

Elliott leads all Rebels pitchers this year with ninety-six strikeouts over seventy-one innings pitched; he has picked off four baserunners while allowing just five stolen bases against him all season long. With four more strikeouts needed for his third career one-hundred-strikeout season—and already reaching three hundred twelve career strikeouts—he recently became only the third Rebel ever to surpass three hundred career punch-outs.
