No. 19/20 Ole Miss women’s basketball lost to Florida 74-67 on Thursday at the Exactech Arena in Gainesville.
Tianna Thompson led Ole Miss (21-9, 8-7 SEC) with a career-high 25 points, making seven three-pointers. This achievement ties her for the fourth-most threes in a single game in program history. The last Rebel to make seven threes in a game was Torri Lewis against Alabama on February 11, 2018.
Cotie McMahon added 15 points and reached double figures for the 28th time this season, matching Crystal Allen’s mark from the 2018-19 season. Christeen Iwuala scored 10 points for Ole Miss.
Latasha Lattimore recorded two blocks during the game, bringing her season total to 66 and tying Shakira Austin for third most blocks in a single season by an Ole Miss player. Austin set her record during the 2021-22 season.
Florida’s Liv McGill finished with a team-high of 28 points, eight assists, and six rebounds.
The opening minutes were defensive, with both teams struggling to score early. Thompson’s shooting helped give Ole Miss an early lead after she hit three three-pointers in the first quarter. The Rebels led by one point entering the second period.
Ole Miss started strong in the second quarter but Florida responded with their own scoring run and took a narrow lead into halftime at 40-37.
In the third quarter, Florida maintained momentum while Ole Miss stayed close through free throws and timely baskets from McMahon and Iwuala. Iwuala tied the game before Florida regained control to finish the period up by five points.
Florida opened the fourth quarter with a surge that pushed its lead to as much as 14 points. Thompson continued her scoring effort but it was not enough as Florida secured victory.
Ole Miss will honor its seniors during its final regular-season game against Texas A&M in Oxford on Sunday, March 1 at 2 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on SECN+.
