Ole Miss softball player Madi George has been named a freshman All-American by Softball America, the organization announced on May 19. This recognition follows a strong debut season for George and marks the second consecutive year that an Ole Miss player has received freshman All-America honors.
The award is significant as it highlights George’s impact on the team during her first season. Last year, Miali Guachino was also recognized as a freshman All-American by D1Softball, showing a trend of new talent emerging in the program.
George, from Leander, Texas, was also named a top-10 finalist for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Freshman of the Year honor. She earned spots on both the All-Southeastern Conference Second Team and the NFCA All-South Region First Team. During her season with Ole Miss, she hit .379 with 23 home runs and 63 runs batted in. She also recorded 10 doubles and drew 27 walks. Her performance set single-season records at Ole Miss for home runs, RBI, total bases (150), and slugging percentage (.824).
In addition to her regular season accomplishments, George performed well in her first NCAA Tournament appearance by hitting .308 with two home runs and five RBI.
The broader impact of these achievements reflects positively on Ole Miss softball’s ability to attract talented newcomers who contribute immediately to team success. As recognition continues for players like George and Guachino in back-to-back years, observers may expect continued growth for the program.
