Cotie McMahon led the No. 18 Ole Miss women’s basketball team to an 82-61 win over Missouri at Mizzou Arena on Thursday. McMahon scored a career-high-tying 33 points and recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds, becoming the first Rebel this season to score 30 or more points in a game.
Her performance was especially strong in the second half, where she scored 24 of her points and shot 9-for-13 from the field. This marks her eleventh game this season with more than 20 points.
Ole Miss limited Missouri to just 34.4 percent shooting from the floor and allowed only four three-pointers on twenty attempts. The Tigers had entered the contest averaging nearly forty percent from beyond the arc and making nine threes per game.
Latasha Lattimore contributed defensively by blocking four shots, marking her eighth game this season with at least three blocks. Sira Thienou added four steals and notched her first career double-double with seventeen points and ten rebounds.
Debreasha Powe helped set the pace early for Ole Miss, scoring five of the team’s first seven points. The Rebels held Missouri to just four points before the first media timeout, but Missouri narrowed the gap as the quarter progressed.
The Rebels expanded their lead in the second quarter behind defensive plays from Lattimore and consistent offense from McMahon. By halftime, Ole Miss led 29-23.
Missouri started strong after halftime, but Tianna Thompson responded with a three-pointer for Ole Miss. McMahon continued to add to her total with key rebounds and baskets, helping extend Ole Miss’ lead into double digits by late in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, both teams increased their offensive output. McMahon scored fourteen points while Thienou added thirteen—both individual season highs among Rebels players for a single period this year. Ole Miss finished by making eleven consecutive field goals to close out its victory.
Ole Miss will return home next to play No. 17 Tennessee in Oxford, with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m., broadcast on ESPNU.
