Ole Miss men’s basketball was defeated by Mississippi State 90-78 at home on Saturday, missing the chance to sweep their in-state rival in the season series. The game took place at SJB Pavilion.

Mississippi State started strong, taking a 13-3 lead early in the first half. Ole Miss narrowed the gap to 24-21 with less than ten minutes remaining before halftime. Despite this effort, Mississippi State maintained momentum and entered halftime with a 62-45 advantage, bolstered by a 62.1% field goal percentage in the first half.

In the second half, Ole Miss improved its shooting, making over half of its attempts from the field. However, they were unable to overcome Mississippi State’s lead.

Malik Dia scored 32 points for Ole Miss, tying his career high and setting a new personal best since joining the team. AJ Storr matched his career high with five assists during the game. Ole Miss committed only six turnovers, marking their 16th game this season with ten or fewer turnovers and their 11th such performance in SEC play.

Ole Miss will next play Texas A&M at Reed Arena in College Station, Texas, on Wednesday, February 18 at 6 p.m. The matchup will be broadcast on SEC Network.
