On Thursday, May 1, former New Albany High School standout Maguire Miskelly’s current college team, the Mississippi Choctaws, lost 2-1 in their NCAA Division II softball game against the West Florida Argonauts.
The game took place at Choccolocco Park. This was their fourth matchup against the Argonauts this season.
The Choctaws’ next game is scheduled for Friday, May 2 at 10 a.m. at Choccolocco Park against Trevecca Nazarene Trojans.
Lafayette County has obtained $5 million from state sources aimed at upgrading its detention center facilities as well as local behavioral health resources through Communicare’s Haven House program. Officials say these improvements will address rising public safety needs along with growing demand for mental health support.
In Panola County, the week’s lowest midgrade gas price was $3.09 per gallon as of the week ending Jan. 31.
