Ole Miss Baseball lost to Missouri by a score of 10-8 in the first round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament on May 19.
The game marked an early exit for No. 17 Ole Miss, which now awaits its NCAA Tournament fate. The matchup was notable as both teams became the first in college baseball to use the Automatic Ball-Strike System during a game, with Ole Miss making the system’s first challenge and Missouri winning the first challenge.
Hayden Federico led Ole Miss offensively, going two-for-five with a home run and a career-high four runs batted in. Dom Decker and Austin Fawley also hit home runs for the Rebels. Decker started the game with his third leadoff home run of the season, while Fawley’s second-inning homer gave Ole Miss an early lead.
Missouri responded with key hits throughout, including a grand slam by Kaden Peer that helped them take control in the fifth inning. Despite Ole Miss narrowing the gap several times—highlighted by Federico’s two-run homer in the seventh—the Tigers added insurance runs late and held off any further Rebel rallies over the final innings.
The Rebels will learn their NCAA Tournament destination on Selection Monday.
