Ole Miss men’s track and field team is ranked No. 9, while the women’s team holds the No. 24 spot in the Week Two USTFCCCA Track & Field Rating Index for the indoor season, according to an announcement from the association on Tuesday.

This marks the second consecutive week that the men’s team has been placed in the top 10 and is their eighth all-time indoor top-10 ranking, all achieved under head coach Connie Price-Smith. During her tenure, Price-Smith has led Ole Miss to 86 of its 119 total indoor rankings appearances—51 with the women’s team and 35 with the men’s.

The USTFCCCA Track & Field Rating Index uses a computer-based algorithm that focuses on individual performances. Each athlete’s mark is assigned a point value, which contributes to a team’s overall score and national ranking.

Both teams are scheduled to compete at the New Mexico Classic in Albuquerque from February 6-7.

For Ole Miss men, notable performances contributing to their ranking include Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan’s shot put (21.18m/69-6) and weight throw (23.78m/78-00.25), Arvesta Troupe’s high jump (2.23m/7-03.75), Sterling Scott’s triple jump (16.14m/52-11.50), and Bryson Smith’s weight throw (22.24m/72-11.50). Other contributors are Jordan Urrutia in both sprints and relays, Logan Kelley in pole vault, Mason Hickel in weight throw, Aiden Britt in the 3K run, Kyle Johnson in triple jump, and members of the relay team: Knox, Turner, Flatt, and Urrutia.

On the women’s side, Akaoma Odeluga made significant contributions with her fourth-place finish in weight throw (22.95m/75-03.50) and sixth place in shot put (17.92m/58-09.50). Skylar Soli also performed well in weight throw (22.21m/72-10.50). Additional points came from Patchnalie Compere’s performance in the 200-meter dash (23.39), Nyah Edwards’ result in weight throw (20.50m/67-3), and Royanah Farmer’s time in the 60-meter dash (7.31).

“All of our indoor top-ten rankings have come during my time here,” said head coach Connie Price-Smith.

The next competition for both squads will be at the New Mexico Classic as they continue their indoor season campaign.
