Ole Miss men’s track and field team has been ranked No. 7, while the women’s team holds the No. 21 spot in the first U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Track & Field Rating Index for the indoor season, according to an announcement from the association on Tuesday.
The men’s ranking is their highest indoors since achieving a program record No. 5 debut in 2023. This also marks their seventh appearance in the indoor top-10, all under head coach Connie Price-Smith. During her tenure, Price-Smith has led Ole Miss to 84 of its 117 all-time indoor rankings appearances—50 by the women’s team and 34 by the men’s team.
The USTFCCCA Track & Field Rating Index uses a computer algorithm that assigns point values to individual performances, which are then totaled for each team to determine national rankings.
Both teams are scheduled to compete at Clemson’s Bob Pollock Invitational on January 30-31.
Among individual performances contributing to the men’s ranking: Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan scored highly in both shot put (20.76 meters) and weight throw (23.78 meters), while Arvesta Troupe placed third in high jump with a mark of 2.23 meters. Other notable contributors include Sterling Scott in triple jump, Bryson Smith and Mason Hickel in weight throw, Chase Rose in the 800-meter run, and members of the 4×400-meter relay.
For the women’s team, Akaoma Odeluga earned significant points with second place in weight throw (22.95 meters) and fourth place in shot put (17.92 meters). Skylar Soli contributed with an eighth-place finish in weight throw, while Nyah Edwards and Cassie Williamson added points through their respective events.
Coach Connie Price-Smith continues to guide both programs as they prepare for upcoming competitions this season.
