Ole Miss men’s tennis team extended its undefeated season to 11-0 after winning a home doubleheader against Mercer and Memphis on Saturday at the William F. Galtney Indoor Tennis Center in Oxford, Mississippi.

In the first match, Ole Miss secured a 7-0 victory over Mercer (0-5). The Rebels took an early lead by clinching the doubles point, with Stefano D’Agostino and Pietro Pampanin defeating Alex Aldaz and Cameron Douthit 6-3. The No. 18-ranked duo of Isac Strömberg and Kai Milburn also won their match 6-3, securing the doubles point for Ole Miss.

Freshman Pietro Pampanin started singles play with a straight-set win over Alex Aldaz, 6-0, 6-3. Noah Schlagenhauf followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Shingo Masuda. Benjamin Martin then clinched the match for Ole Miss by defeating Prince Gandonou 6-1, 6-2.

The Rebels continued to sweep the remaining singles matches: Gordon Whitwell beat Howell Burns 6-4, 6-1; Stefano D’Agostino defeated Isak Padio in a super tiebreaker; and M. Chambonniere overcame Nemanja Stefanovic in three sets.

Later in the day, Ole Miss faced Memphis (5-3) and earned a 4-1 win. The Rebels again claimed the doubles point as Chambonniere and Martin defeated Lasse Rensing and Keoni Puig McCallan 6-3. Memphis’s No. 87-ranked pair of Marcos Fabra Castro and Sam Reeve handed Milburn and Strömberg their first loss of the day before D’Agostino and Pampanin secured the deciding doubles match for Ole Miss.

In singles play against Memphis, Isac Strömberg won his match against Marko Milosavljevic with identical set scores of 6-1. Memphis picked up its only point when Marcos Castro Fabra defeated Pietro Pampanin in straight sets. Stefano D’Agostino gave Ole Miss its third point by beating Maxime Dubouch, setting up Chambonniere to secure the overall win with a two-set victory over Sam Reeve.

Ole Miss will continue its home schedule on Sunday, February 15, facing Belmont at Palmer Salloum Tennis Center at 1 p.m.

“After three weeks away from home matches, our team showed focus today,” said head coach Jake Jacoby. “I’m proud of how everyone competed throughout both matches.”
