The Ole Miss men’s tennis team experienced its first loss of the season, falling to Texas A&M 4-3 on Saturday at the Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station.
Ole Miss, ranked No. 32 nationally, began by taking the doubles point after wins from the pairings of Benjamin Martin and Matthieu Chambonniere, as well as Stefano D’Agostino and Pietro Pampanin. The team only dropped one court during doubles play.
In singles competition, Pampanin secured a win over No. 108 Alex Frusina with a score of 6-1, 6-3. Texas A&M responded with Markus Molder defeating Isac Stromberg 6-3, 6-4. Vlado Jankanj put Ole Miss ahead again by defeating Tiago Pires in three sets.
However, Texas A&M won the final three singles matches to secure the overall victory. Togan Tokac completed the comeback for the Aggies by winning two straight sets against Benjamin Martin after dropping the first set.
Ole Miss will continue its road trip and face No. 18 Oklahoma on Monday at noon at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman.
