Ole Miss men’s tennis team continued its undefeated season, recording two victories on Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Rebels first handed Nebraska its first loss of the year with a 4-2 win and then swept North Dakota 4-0 at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center.

Against Nebraska, Ole Miss started behind after dropping the doubles point. The decisive match came down to freshman Vlado Jankanj, who clinched the win for the Rebels by defeating Jeri Lassila in three sets. Jankanj took the first set 7-5, lost the second 4-6, but won the third set 6-2.

Earlier in doubles play, Matthieu Chambonniere and Benjamin Martin were defeated in a tiebreaker by Henry Lamchinniah and Joan Torres Espinosa. Despite this setback, Chambonniere rebounded in singles with a straight-set victory over Leo Linquet. Isac Stromberg also secured a singles win against Niels van der Sijs after three sets. Martin contributed another singles victory for Ole Miss before Jankanj sealed the match.

Nebraska’s Nikolay Sysoev earned their team’s only singles point by beating Stefano D’Agostino in three sets.

In their second match of the day against North Dakota, Ole Miss secured the doubles point as Jankanj and Noah Schlagenhauf defeated Walker Valentine and Christos Alex. Stromberg and Kai Milburn added another doubles win for Ole Miss.

During singles play against North Dakota, Martin won his match against Alex 6-1, 6-2; Stromberg beat Justin Ilic 6-2, 6-2; and Schlagenhauf clinched the overall victory by defeating Kotaro Matsumura with identical set scores of 6-2.

Ole Miss improved to a season record of 9-0 with these wins. The team will return home to Oxford to face Mercer on Saturday, February 13 at the William F. Galtney Indoor Tennis Center.
