Ole Miss men’s track and field team has been ranked No. 12, while the women’s team holds the No. 25 spot in the Week Four USTFCCCA Track & Field Rating Index for the indoor season, according to an announcement by the association on Tuesday.
This marks the third time this season that both teams have appeared simultaneously in the rankings, a feat achieved 24 times in school history during indoor seasons. All of these dual rankings have occurred under head coach Connie Price-Smith. During her tenure with Ole Miss, Price-Smith has led teams to 89 out of the program’s 122 all-time indoor ranking appearances—52 for women and 37 for men.
The USTFCCCA Track & Field Rating Index uses a computer-based system that evaluates individual performances. The algorithm assigns point values to each mark, which are then totaled to determine a team’s national ranking.
Looking ahead, Ole Miss will send its distance medley relay squads to Notre Dame on Saturday, February 21, for the Alex Wilson Invite. The rest of the team will continue preparations for the SEC Indoor Championships at Texas A&M from February 26-28.
Key contributors for the No. 12 ranked men’s team include Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan with significant points in shot put and weight throw events, Arvesta Troupe in high jump, Sterling Scott in triple jump, and several others contributing across various disciplines.
On the women’s side at No. 25, Akaoma Odeluga scored highly in both weight throw and shot put events. Skylar Soli also contributed notably in weight throw alongside Alicia Burnett’s performance in sprints and Nyah Edwards’ results in throws.
“All of which have come under head coach Connie Price-Smith,” noted Ole Miss regarding their historical ranking achievements during Price-Smith’s leadership.
