The Ole Miss softball team will host UT Martin for a doubleheader on Tuesday at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium. The first game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. CT, with the second game starting about 40 minutes after the conclusion of the opener. Both games will be available for streaming on SEC Network Plus.

The Rebels enter the matchup with a 16-5 record and are preparing for their final non-conference games before beginning SEC play. Freshman Madi George has emerged as a key player this season, posting a .450 batting average, leading the team with seven home runs and drawing 13 walks, while collecting 21 RBIs in her first 21 collegiate games. Sophomore Persy Llamas has also performed well, hitting .425 with four home runs and driving in 20 runs; she leads the team with 31 hits.

Pitching has been a strong point for Ole Miss recently, as they have limited opponents to three runs or fewer in each of their last eleven games—a streak not seen since 2023. Head coach Jamie Trachsel achieved a milestone earlier this season by becoming the program’s all-time winningest coach on February 13th, earning her 188th victory at Ole Miss. She is now two wins away from reaching her 200th win with the program.

Senior pitcher Emilee Boyer surpassed 500 career strikeouts during Sunday’s win over ULM, having previously recorded most of those strikeouts during her time at West Texas A&M. Senior Kyra Aycock has become an important part of the pitching rotation and currently ranks eighth nationally in wins.

Ole Miss is in the midst of a ten-game home stretch that will lead into their SEC schedule against Alabama from March 6-8. This period is considered crucial as it precedes a challenging series of conference matchups against top-ranked teams including Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

Persy Llamas continues to anchor Ole Miss’s offense after an impressive freshman campaign where she hit .354 with ten home runs and set a new single-season RBI record alongside teammate Aliyah Binford. Last postseason, Llamas made significant contributions both offensively and defensively, earning All-SEC Second Team honors as well as NFCA All-South Region recognition. For her performance entering this season, she was named to the All-SEC Preseason Team and recognized by Softball America as one of the nation’s top players at first base.

Freshman Madi George has quickly established herself as an impact player in her debut season. “George leads the Rebels in home runs, walks, slugging percentage and OBP,” according to team sources.

Pitcher Lilly Whitten made history on February 13 by throwing only the sixth solo no-hitter in program history during an eight-inning win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Sophomore Mackenzie Pickens also returns after receiving NFCA All-South Region Third Team honors last year; she opened this season hitting .355 with six home runs and leads Ole Miss with 24 RBIs so far.

UT Martin arrives under head coach Chelsea Farmer holding a 12-7 record—already nearing last year’s total wins—and recently swept Akron in three games. Senior Avary Makarewicz leads UT Martin offensively with a .414 average along with four home runs and twenty-one RBIs. The Skyhawks have relied on several pitchers early this season; senior Ashtyn Green holds a record of three wins while junior Sami Scholtz boasts an ERA under three across four starts.
