Ole Miss softball secured two run-rule victories in a doubleheader against UT Martin on Tuesday at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium. The Rebels improved their season record to 18-5 and remain undefeated at home with an 8-0 mark.
In the first game, Ole Miss defeated UT Martin 12-4 in six innings. The Rebels took control early, scoring seven runs in the opening inning. Key contributions included a leadoff single from Tenly Grisham, a two-run single by Cassie Reasner, and a two-RBI double from Laylonna Applin. Ole Miss added two more runs in the second inning and continued to build their lead throughout the game.
UT Martin managed to score one run in the fourth inning with a solo home run and added three more runs in the fifth. However, Ole Miss closed out the game in the sixth after Alexa Rosales recorded her first collegiate hit and Persy Llamas drove in two runs with a double for the walk-off win.
The second game saw Ole Miss win 10-0 in five innings. The Rebels again started strong, scoring six runs in the first inning. Highlights included a two-run home run by Llamas, a three-run homer from Taylor Roman, and a solo shot by Grace Thompson. Additional runs came from RBI singles by Madi George and Llamas as well as an RBI groundout by Reasner.
Pitcher Lilly Whitten delivered a complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts, allowing only two hits over five innings.
Following these wins, Ole Miss will begin its SEC schedule with a three-game series against No. 4 Alabama starting Friday at 6 p.m., which will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.
