The Ole Miss softball team will begin play in the 2026 NCAA Tournament at the Lubbock Regional, hosted by Texas Tech from May 15-17 at Tracy Sellers Field, according to a May 14 announcement. The Rebels, holding a record of 34-24 overall and 6-18 in the Southeastern Conference, enter as the No. 2 seed and are scheduled to face Boston University on Friday at 1 p.m. Central Time.

This appearance marks Ole Miss’s tenth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. The double-elimination regional also features Texas Tech and Marist alongside Ole Miss and Boston University. The Rebels could face either Texas Tech or Marist on Saturday depending on results from their opening game.

Several players have received recent honors for their performances this season. Madi George and Cassie Reasner were named first team NFCA All-South Region honorees, while Persy Llamas earned second team recognition and Emilee Boyer was placed on the third team. Freshman Madi George set new single-season records for home runs (21), total bases (139), and RBIs (58) for Ole Miss.

Head coach Jamie Trachsel’s squad has shown strength both offensively—setting a program record with 79 home runs this year—and defensively, ranking third in the SEC with 27 double plays turned so far this season. “George becomes the first Rebel freshman to ever be named to the first team in her region,” according to statements released by Ole Miss Athletics.

The Rebels recently secured back-to-back wins over ranked opponents South Carolina and Tennessee during strong postseason play. They have also made history this year by winning their first-ever series at Tennessee since joining conference play.

Looking ahead, Ole Miss will open against Boston University—a matchup that is a first between these programs—with potential games against familiar postseason foes later in the weekend.
