Ole Miss track and field completed a weekend of split competition with notable performances at both the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee.

At the Tyson Invitational, the men’s 4×400-meter relay team—composed of Joshua Knox, Jordan Urrutia, Carson Turner, and Wesley Todd—recorded a season-best time of 3:07.65. This result makes them the second-fastest indoor relay team in Ole Miss history, trailing only the 2004 record set by Demondrick Shumaker, Mark Gregory, Kao Wokoma, and Franz Bernard.

Three-time NCAA champion Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan won the men’s shot put with a throw of 21.12 meters (69-03.50), marking his second consecutive meet over 21 meters. Freshman Ashton Hearn became just the fourth Rebel to surpass 60 feet indoors in shot put with a personal best of 18.37 meters (60-03.25).

In women’s events at Arkansas, junior Akaoma Odeluga took first place in shot put at 17.46 meters (57-03.50). Sophomore Lily Beattie tied her indoor career best in pole vault at 4.15 meters (13-07.25), placing eighth in the championship section.

Senior Arvesta Troupe finished fifth in the men’s high jump championship section with a mark of 2.19 meters (7-02.25).

At Vanderbilt’s Music City Challenge, senior Chase Rose led an effort by Ole Miss’s men’s middle distance runners in the 800-meter race with a personal best time of 1:47.53—sixth fastest indoors for Ole Miss all-time. Max Armstrong placed fifth with an indoor personal record of 1:47.77; Evan Thornton-Sherman finished sixth at 1:48.32 in his first collegiate attempt at this distance.

Senior Kidus Misgina won the seeded section of the men’s 3K with a season-best time of 7:55.16; freshman Owen Kelley placed third and set a personal record at 8:04.94.

The women’s distance medley relay team—Sophie Baumann, Jo-Lauren Keane, Cassie Williamson, and Beth Arentz—posted a season-best time of 11:25.48 for second overall on Saturday and tenth on Ole Miss’s all-time list.

Looking ahead, Ole Miss will send its distance medley relays to Notre Dame for next week’s Alex Wilson Invite on February 21 while preparing for the SEC Indoor Championships scheduled from February 26–28 at Texas A&M.
