Ole Miss women’s golf tied for tenth after opening round at Moon Golf Invitational

The Ole Miss women’s golf team, ranked No. 14 nationally, finished the first round of the Moon Golf Invitational tied for 10th place. The event is taking place at Suntree Golf Club in Melbourne, Florida.

On a day marked by challenging conditions that affected scores across the field, Ole Miss recorded a team total of 300, which is 12 strokes over par. Texas A&M was the only team to post an under-par score in the opening round. After 18 holes, only eight players managed to finish below par.

Nicole Gal led Ole Miss with a one-over-par performance. She began her round with birdies on her first two holes and shot one-under on her first nine holes. Gal reached two-under through 14 holes before finishing with a score of 73 after some late-round struggles.

Matilda Björkman contributed a three-over-par round that included two birdies. Mary Miller and Kajsolotta Svarvar each shot four-over-par rounds of 76, while Sophie Linder completed the day at six-over par.

Ole Miss will begin its second round at 8:40 a.m. Central Time.
