Ole Miss women’s basketball will play its final regular season road game against Florida on Thursday, February 26. The matchup in Gainesville is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on SEC Network.
The Rebels, ranked No. 19 nationally, enter the contest with a record of 21-8 overall and an 8-6 mark in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin is in her eighth season at Ole Miss and has guided the team to six consecutive wins over Florida.
Florida holds a 16-13 overall record this season and is 4-10 in SEC play under head coach Kelly Rae Finley, who is now in her fifth year leading the Gators.
This meeting marks the 51st time Ole Miss and Florida have faced each other since their first game in 1979. Ole Miss leads the series with a narrow advantage of 26-24. The Rebels are seeking to tie their longest winning streak against Florida at eight games, matching their run from the start of the series.
Recent matchups have seen Ole Miss win by double digits, including a notable victory on February 5, 2023, when they defeated Florida by 26 points—holding them to just over 24 percent shooting from the field. Last season’s game saw Sira Thienou score a career-high 29 points for Ole Miss.
Florida’s offense this year has been led by sophomore Liv McGill, who averages more than 22 points per game—second highest in the SEC—and also contributes over six assists and nearly three steals per contest. Me’Arah O’Neal and Laila Reynolds provide additional scoring support for the Gators.
Despite having more losses than wins in conference play, Florida maintains a positive scoring margin this season. Many of their games have been closely contested.
In their most recent outing, Ole Miss lost to South Carolina by a score of 85-48. Christeen Iwuala recorded a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds for the Rebels.
Defensively, Ole Miss has accumulated nearly five blocks per game this season. Latasha Lattimore leads that effort with a total of 64 blocks so far—ranking third in the SEC—and has achieved at least three blocks in twelve different games this year.
Christeen Iwuala continues to be one of Ole Miss’ top frontcourt players with eleven double-doubles this season—the most by any Rebel since Madison Scott’s eleven during the previous campaign. Iwuala has also led her team in rebounding seventeen times this year.
Cotie McMahon has made an impact offensively for Ole Miss during her first season with seventeen games scoring at least twenty points—a mark that ties for third-most all-time among Rebels for single-season performances. She has reached double figures in scoring twenty-seven times so far this year.
