Ole Miss women’s basketball will face Kentucky in Lexington on Sunday, February 15, beginning a stretch of four games against AP top-25 ranked opponents. The game is set for 1 p.m. CT at Memorial Coliseum and will be broadcast on SEC Network.
The No. 14/16 Ole Miss Rebels hold a 20-5 overall record and are 7-3 in SEC play under head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin, who is in her eighth season with the team. The No. 18/19 Kentucky Wildcats, led by second-year head coach Kenny Brooks, have a 19-7 record and are 6-6 in the conference.
This meeting marks the 49th matchup between Ole Miss and Kentucky. The Rebels lead the series with a 29-19 record and have won the last six encounters, including a significant win two seasons ago when they defeated Kentucky by 30 points. In that game, which was McPhee-McCuin’s 100th win at Ole Miss, “the Rebels steamrolled the Wildcats, 75-45.” That victory was also noted as “the largest SEC win on the road since 2006.” Madison Scott led Ole Miss with 16 points.
Last season, Ole Miss defeated then-No.8 Kentucky at home, with Scott setting a program record for games played while scoring a team-leading 22 points. The Rebels outrebounded Kentucky by a wide margin and maintained their advantage despite Kentucky’s better shooting percentage.
Historically, Ole Miss has dominated this series, winning most of the early matchups and holding an edge when facing ranked Kentucky teams. The Rebels have won their last four games against ranked Wildcats since 2021.
Kentucky enters Sunday’s game with an impressive home record of 11-2 this season. Clara Strack leads the Wildcats inside with averages of over 16 points and ten rebounds per game, while Tonie Morgan directs the offense with more than eight assists per contest—her total assists are currently the highest among Division I women’s players this year. Asia Boone and Amelia Hassett contribute from long range as part of Kentucky’s perimeter attack.
Defensively, Kentucky ranks second nationally in blocks per game at nearly seven per contest. They focus on controlling the paint and sharing the ball efficiently to establish rhythm early in games.
Ole Miss comes into this matchup after defeating Arkansas for its sixth consecutive win over that opponent. The Rebels improved to a perfect home record this season at Craddock Court (12-0) after their latest victory against Arkansas, where Cotie McMahon scored at least twenty points for her fifth straight game.
Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin commented on reaching another milestone: “Ole Miss and head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin have reached the 20-overall win plateau for a fifth consecutive season and the 23rd time in program history.” This achievement marks “the first time in the 21st century that Ole Miss has reached at least 20 wins in five straight seasons.”
Cotie McMahon has made an immediate impact during her first season at Ole Miss by scoring double digits in each of her first nineteen games—a streak tying Bianca Thomas’ mark from over a decade ago—and is approaching career milestones recognized within program history.
