The Rebels, ranked No. 17 nationally and holding a 17-4 record (4-2 SEC), are led by head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin in her eighth season at Ole Miss. Vanderbilt enters the contest ranked No. 5/6 with a 20-1 overall record and a 6-1 mark in conference play under head coach Shea Ralph.

This meeting marks the 58th time Ole Miss and Vanderbilt have played each other since their series began in 1978. Vanderbilt leads the series 35-22, but Ole Miss currently holds a five-game winning streak—their longest against the Commodores. Last season, Ole Miss won both matchups between the teams, including an 87-59 victory in Oxford, which was their largest margin of victory over Vanderbilt.
In recent games against Vanderbilt, several Ole Miss players have delivered notable performances. Kennedy Todd-Williams scored a career-high 25 points in one outing last season, while Starr Jacobs and Madison Scott combined for significant contributions in another win. Angel Baker also led the team with 22 points during a previous victory.
The rivalry has produced memorable moments over its history. In 1992, Ole Miss defeated Vanderbilt to claim its first SEC Championship title. Peggie Gillom’s performance in 1978 remains among the top rebounding efforts for the program.
Vanderbilt has become a strong contender under Ralph’s leadership, reaching consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time since a stretch from 1999 to 2014. Sophomore Mikayla Blakes leads both her team and the SEC with an average of 24.8 points per game and contributes across multiple statistical categories.
The Commodores are recognized for their efficient offense—ranking among the top ten nationally in scoring—and three-point shooting ability with nearly ten made threes per game at an accuracy rate that ranks them thirteenth nationwide. Freshman guard Aubrey Galvan is also making an impact as one of the conference’s leaders in assists and steals.
Defensively, Vanderbilt is effective at forcing turnovers and collecting steals, while Justine Pissot leads their long-range shooting and Sacha Washington anchors rebounding efforts.
Ole Miss comes into this contest following an 82-61 win over Missouri on Thursday night at Mizzou Arena. Cotie McMahon recorded a double-double with a career-high tying 33 points and matched her season-best with twelve rebounds; she became the first Rebel this season to score thirty or more points.
Latasha Lattimore contributed four blocks defensively—her eighth game this season with three or more blocks—while Sira Thienou added four steals and achieved her first career double-double with seventeen points and ten rebounds.
Lattimore was recently named to the Naismith Women’s College Defensive Player of the Year Watch List by the Atlanta Tipoff Club. She averages just over two blocks per game this season, ranking third best in the SEC and twenty-first nationally.
Cotie McMahon earned recognition as USBWA National Player of the Week as well as SEC Co-Player of the Week following her standout performance against Missouri.
