Ole Miss women’s basketball will play Auburn in a neutral site game at Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama, on Monday, February 2. The game is set to begin at 6 p.m. CT and will be available for streaming on SEC Network+. Admission is free for all fans, with doors opening at 5 p.m. CT and general admission seating.

The matchup marks the 69th meeting between Ole Miss and Auburn since the series began in 1978. Auburn leads the overall series 37-31 and has a 7-4 record against Ole Miss in neutral site games. However, Ole Miss has won five of the last six matchups between the teams.

Reflecting on past performances, Ole Miss had a strong showing in their first-ever meeting with Auburn on December 8, 1978, winning by a score of 107-62. In that game, the Rebels made 47 field goals—still the most by Ole Miss against an SEC opponent.

Last season, Ole Miss defeated Auburn 85-58. During that game, Sira Thienou and Kennedy Todd-Williams combined for 12 steals while KK Deans and Todd-Williams led scoring with 20 and 19 points respectively.

Auburn enters this contest under first-year head coach Larry Vickers with a record of 13-9 overall and a conference mark of 2-6. The Tigers started their season with eight straight wins but have recently lost three consecutive games. Freshman guard Harissoum Coulibaly leads Auburn’s scoring at an average of 11.1 points per game.

Auburn’s defense has been notable for its ability to generate turnovers; they average over eleven steals per game—ranking fifth in the SEC—and force more than twenty turnovers per contest.

Ole Miss comes into this matchup ranked No.17 nationally with an overall record of 18-4 (5-2 SEC) under head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin. Most recently, they secured an impressive win over No.5/6 Vanderbilt in Birmingham, extending their winning streak against Vanderbilt to six games—the longest such streak in program history.

Head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin said: “With wins over No.5 Oklahoma and No.5 Vanderbilt, head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin has guided the Rebels to a pair of victories against top five opponents this season. The Rebels have accomplished this team feat only twice before, last time being during the 1995-96 season when they bested No.5 Vanderbilt and No.3 Tennessee just ten days apart. For McPhee-McCuin, it marks her seventeenth ranked win as the leader of the Rebels, and her third against top five opponents.”

Christeen Iwuala and Cotie McMahon have played key roles for Ole Miss this season; together they account for over forty percent of team points scored so far and have frequently led both scoring and rebounding categories across multiple games.
