The Ole Miss women’s golf team, ranked 15th nationally, finished tied for second place at the Puerto Rico Classic on Monday. This marks their fifth top-four finish of the season and their second consecutive runner-up placement at this event.
The Rebels recorded a team score of 847 (-17), with only Vanderbilt posting a lower round on the final day. Head coach Kory Henkes led the squad as they produced a team round of 281 (-7) in the final round, finishing just behind No. 10 Vanderbilt.
Kajsalotta Svarvar continued her strong form for Ole Miss by shooting three-under-par (69) in the final round. Her performance secured fourth place individually and was her third top-five result in five events this season.
Mary Miller also contributed to the team’s success with a two-under-par (70) round, finishing tied for 13th overall. Miller has now placed inside the top 20 in four straight tournaments dating back to last fall.
Sophie Linder posted a bogey-free three-under (69) on Monday, ending two-under for the tournament. Nicole Gal shot one-over par, Matilda Björkman finished three-over, and Filippa Sundquist closed out at five-over in the last round.
In scoring statistics for the week, Ole Miss ranked third in both par-3 and par-4 scoring and second in par-5 scoring. Nicole Gal led all players with 46 pars while Mary Miller followed with 43 pars and had only two bogeys across all 54 holes—fewer than any other player in the field.
Following this event, Ole Miss will prepare for its next competition at the Moon Golf Invitational from February 15-17 at Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, Florida. Louisville will host that tournament.
“Ole Miss had the second lowest team round of the day (281, -7) behind No. 10 Vanderbilt who posted nine-under,” according to event organizers. “It marks back-to-back second place finishes for Kory Henkes and the Rebels at the Puerto Rico Classic.”
