The Ole Miss women’s golf team, ranked No. 15 nationally, is set to begin its spring season at the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande from February 1-3 at the Grand Reserve Golf Club. The tournament will include 18 teams, five of which are currently ranked in the top 25 according to Clippd’s rankings. This marks the third consecutive year that Ole Miss participates in this event.
The Rebels aim to secure a fourth straight postseason appearance for the program during the 2025-26 campaign. The schedule for the Puerto Rico Classic plans for 36 holes on Sunday and an additional round on Monday, with Tuesday reserved if needed due to expected rain.
Ole Miss will field a lineup consisting of sophomore Kajsalotta Svarvar, who posted a team-best scoring average of 70.55 in the fall and recorded her career-low score at the Cougar Classic; sophomore Mary Miller, who had two top ten finishes last fall; junior Sophie Linder, with five rounds under par this season; freshman Matilda Björkman; senior Nicole Gal; and sophomore Filippa Sundquist competing as an individual.
This season’s roster returns six players from last year’s squad—one senior, one junior, three sophomores, and a redshirt freshman. Senior Nicole Gal participated individually throughout the fall and achieved her best result with a T8 finish at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational. Sophomore Kajsalotta Svarvar led several statistical categories during fall play and achieved three top-ten finishes.
Sophie Linder provided consistent performance as she enters her third spring with Ole Miss. Filippa Sundquist started her sophomore year strongly by securing four top-20 finishes so far this season.
The team has also added new talent: freshman Matilda Björkman joined from Sweden and finished tied for third place in her debut tournament at Purdue’s Boilermaker Classic. Mary Miller transferred after one year at Georgia Southern where she played all 13 tournaments as a freshman—a single-season record for that program—and quickly contributed two top-ten finishes since joining Ole Miss.
Head coach Kory Henkes commented on recent achievements: “It marked back-to-back wins for the sixth time in program history with four coming under head coach Kory Henkes.”
Ole Miss previously claimed two tournament victories during their fall schedule—including another win at September’s Cougar Classic—bringing their total number of such wins under Coach Henkes to three over four years.
