Ole Miss women’s tennis secured two victories in a doubleheader held at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center in Norfolk, Virginia, on Saturday. The Rebels first defeated Old Dominion 5-2 before winning against Hampton later in the day.

Against Old Dominion, Ole Miss began by winning the doubles point. On court one, No. 66 Andrea Nova and Emily Welker overcame No. 75 Victoria Mataskova and Kira Matushkina with a score of 6-3. Riley Crowder and Alice Soulié clinched another doubles win for the Rebels, also with a 6-3 result.

In singles play, No. 8 Welker earned a straight-set victory over No. 65 Matushkina (6-1, 6-3). Crowder followed up with a win against Lidiia Rasskouskaia (7-6 [7-5], 6-4), while Soulié rallied from behind to defeat Victoria Matasova in three sets (4-6, 7-6 [7-4], 6-2). Nova added another point for Ole Miss by defeating Uladzislava Manzhos (6-1, 5-7, 6-4). Old Dominion won the last two singles matches to bring the final score to 5-2.

After their match with Old Dominion, Ole Miss remained at the venue to face Hampton. Soulié and Crowder teamed up for a doubles win over Tanya Midzi and Melis Sakiroglu (6-1), while Horikawa and freshman Owen Wilkinson recorded their first dual match doubles victory against Chelsea Chakanyuka and Toffee Ghorab (also 6-1).

The Rebels quickly secured their second team win of the day through singles victories: Welker beat Serena Bryan (6-1, 6-1), Nova topped Midzi (6-0, 6-1), and Crowder defeated Chakanyuka (6-1, 6-0). Three remaining singles matches were unfinished when Ole Miss clinched the overall victory.

These results extended Ole Miss’s winning streak to four matches and improved their overall record to 5-1 this season. The team will return home next weekend for their home opener against Memphis on Friday, February 20 at 5 p.m. CT.
