Ole Miss softball player Persy Llamas has been named to the All-SEC Preseason Team, according to an announcement from the Southeastern Conference. Llamas is among only six true sophomores and eight sophomores overall selected for the 21-player list.

As a freshman, Llamas made a significant impact during Ole Miss’s run to the Women’s College World Series. She posted a .354 batting average, hit 10 home runs, and recorded 55 runs batted in (RBI), while striking out just 11 times throughout the season. Her 55 RBI tied with teammate Aliyah Binford for the Ole Miss single-season record. Last year, Llamas received All-SEC Second Team and NFCA All-South Region Second Team honors.

In addition to individual recognition for Llamas, Ole Miss was projected to finish 13th in the SEC preseason poll. Texas, last year’s national champion, was picked as the favorite to win the conference.

The Rebels will start their regular season on February 5 with a doubleheader at Cal State Fullerton as part of the Easton Classic. The games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Central Time.

Fans can participate in Rebel Rewards powered by Coca-Cola by downloading the Ole Miss Sports mobile app and signing up for an account. Points earned through attendance can be redeemed for prizes and experiences.
