Ole Miss softball secured a 5-1 victory over ULM on Sunday afternoon at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium, concluding the Ole Miss Classic. The Rebels improved their season record to 16-5.
The game saw sophomore Mackenzie Pickens hit a grand slam in the fourth inning, which gave Ole Miss a commanding lead. Emilee Boyer pitched a complete game, allowing only one run and striking out eight batters.
Ole Miss started strong but did not score in the first inning despite two hits and a walk. In the second inning, Taylor Roman singled, followed by walks from Grace Thompson and Laylonna Applin to load the bases. Taylor Malvin then hit an RBI single for the first run of the game.
Roman added another hit in the fourth before Thompson walked and Malvin singled to fill the bases again. Pickens then hit her grand slam over the left field wall, making it 5-0.
Boyer held ULM without a hit through four innings and ended with two double plays. She faced pressure in later innings but managed to limit ULM to just one solo home run in the seventh.
The Rebels will continue their homestand on Tuesday with a doubleheader against UT Martin starting at 2 p.m. CT. Both games will be available via SEC Network Plus.
