What background was most represented in Union County schools in 2019-2020 school year?

Of the 5,118 students enrolled in Union County schools in 2019-2020, 72.5% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Union County students.

This is a 0.6% decrease from the previous school year.

East Union Attendance Center had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Union County schools showed 72.5% students were White, 15.5% were Black or African American, 6.8% were Hispanic or Latino and 3% were Two or More Races.

There are seven schools in Union County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
