Black or African American had the largest percent of student body in Panola County schools in 2020-2021 school year

Of the 5,488 students enrolled in Panola County schools in 2020-2021, 61.6% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Panola County students.

This is a 3.2% decrease from the previous school year.

South Panola High School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Panola County schools showed 61.6% students were Black or African American, 31.1% were WHITE, 1.8% were Two or More Races and 0.7% were Hispanic or Latino.

There are nine schools in Panola County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
