Enrollment by Ethnicity: White highest represented background in Lafayette County schools in 2020-2021 school year

Of the 7,291 students enrolled in Lafayette County schools in 2020-2021, 59.9% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Lafayette County students.

This is unchanged from the previous school year.

Oxford High School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Lafayette County schools showed 59.9% students were White, 28.6% were Black or African American, 4.9% were Hispanic or Latino, 2.5% were Two or More Races and 2% were Asian.

There are 10 schools in Lafayette County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
