2020-2021: What were the backgrounds of Yalobusha County students?

Of the 1,467 students enrolled in Yalobusha County schools in 2020-2021, 54.4% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Yalobusha County students.

This is a 2% decrease from the previous school year.

Davidson Elementary School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Yalobusha County schools showed 54.4% students were Black or African American, 41% were White and 2.8% were Two or More Races.

There are four schools in Yalobusha County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
