2021-2022: What were the backgrounds of Lafayette County students?

Of the 7,505 students enrolled in Lafayette County schools in 2021-2022, 59% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Lafayette County students.

This is a 0.8% decrease from the previous school year.

Oxford High School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2021-2022 school year.

A snapshot of Lafayette County schools showed 59% students were White and 1.3% were Asian.

There are 10 schools in Lafayette County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
