White had the largest percent of student body in Lafayette County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

White students made up 73.1% of the 2,776 students enrolled in Lafayette County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a one% increase over the previous school year.

Lafayette High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 847 students.

A snapshot of Lafayette County School District schools showed 73.1% of students were white, 21.4% were Black, 1.8% were multiracial, and 1.2% Hispanic.

Lafayette County School District roughly covers four schools within Lafayette County and has a main office in Oxford.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
