What background was most represented in Oxford School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

White students made up 50.8% of the 4,729 students enrolled in Oxford School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 1.9% increase over the previous school year.

Oxford High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 1,346 students.

A snapshot of Oxford School District schools showed 50.8% of students were white, 34.1% were Black, 6.8% were Hispanic, 3.8% were multiracial, and 2.1% Asian.

Oxford School District roughly covers six schools within Lafayette County and has a main office in Oxford.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
