Enrollment by Ethnicity: White was most represented background in Pontotoc County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

White students made up 75.4% of the 3,472 students enrolled in Pontotoc County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 2.3% decrease from the previous school year.

South Pontotoc Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 764 students.

A snapshot of Pontotoc County School District schools showed 75.4% of students were white, 11.9% were Hispanic, 8.7% were Black, and 1.7% multiracial.

Pontotoc County School District roughly covers seven schools within Pontotoc County and has a main office in Ecru.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
