What background was most represented in Union County School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

White students made up 86.4% of the 2,961 students enrolled in Union County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 1.2% increase over the previous school year.

East Union Attendance Center had the highest enrollment in the district with 938 students.

A snapshot of Union County School District schools showed 86.4% of students were white, 7.8% were Black, 2% were multiracial, and 1.2% Hispanic.

Union County School District roughly covers four schools within Union County and has a main office in New Albany.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
