White had the largest percent of student body in Water Valley School District schools in 2021-22 school year

White students made up 49.6% of the 1,069 students enrolled in Water Valley School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a one% increase over the previous school year.

Davidson Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 605 students.

A snapshot of Water Valley School District schools showed 49.6% of students were white, 44.1% were Black, and 4.3% multiracial.

Water Valley School District roughly covers two schools within Yalobusha County and has a main office in Water Valley.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
