Census Bureau: 1.8% of people in Union County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 27,775 citizens living in Union County in 2021, 98.2% said they were only one race, while 1.8% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Union County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 77.8% or 21,610 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 15.6% and totaled 4,346 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Union County is 0.6% lower than the state average, which stands at 2.4%.
